Johannesburg, South Africa; New York, USA; 3 June 2016: Africa investor (Ai), a leading international investment and communications group, today announced that global institutional investors and US pension fund leaders will meet with African pension and sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) and capital market leaders at the Ai Pension and Sovereign Wealth Fund Forum in New York in September.
In May of this year, Africa investor convened African institutional investors (comprising Africa’s largest and most active pension and sovereign wealth fund investors) to engage and explore ways to encourage and promote pension and SWF investing in African infrastructure investment opportunities, as well as co-investments amongst African and international pension and SWFs.
As a follow-up to the Ai CEO Infrastructure Investment Summit, and the ongoing relationship developing from the Obama-led US-Africa Summit, to engage the US and international institutional investment community on opportunities in Africa, Africa investor is hosting the Ai Pension and Sovereign Wealth Fund Forum at the 9th Ai CEO Institutional Investment Summit. The Summit will be held in association with NASDAQ, the World Pensions Council and the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) on the 19th of September 2016, at the NASDAQ Headquarters in New York, alongside the UN General Assembly High-Level Week.
Commenting on the Summit, Hubert Danso, CEO and Vice Chairman of Africa investor, said, “This investment leaders’ Summit will allow a consensus-driven dialogue between African and international pension funds, capital market experts and corporate leaders on co-investment opportunities within and outside Africa. With more transactions in the pipeline across many African markets, and more African funds seeking partners for their international allocations, the need for pension fund and SWF professionals to share information and network with each other is more important than ever.”
He continued, “The exclusive Ai CEO Institutional Investment Summit has established itself as a unique platform for global institutional investors to identify and interrogate co-investment opportunities and build invaluable relationships with African pension and sovereign wealth fund investors.”
This Summit builds on a series of engagements hosted by Ai to provide the international investment community with a convenient and efficient means to engage leaders of influential African institutions in a lasting and meaningful manner. Ai will also be presenting the prestigious Ai Capital Markets Index Series Awards as part of the event.
The Ai Pension and Sovereign Wealth Fund Forum, and the Ai CEO Institutional Investment Summit, will be hosted at the NASDAQ Headquarters in New York on the 19th of September.
